Music production platform Splice is currently offering its users Ableton Live 10 Lite as a free download. If you aren’t already a member of Splice, simply choose a username and password, then enter your email address – no subscription plan is required to get Live Lite.
Splice’s offer is running until 31 December 2020, which is great for new producers who have gotten into DAW production during the COVID-19 lockdown. Once you have Live Lite, it’s possible to receive a discount when upgrading to Live Standard or Live Suite.
Ableton Live 10 Lite is essentially a stripped-down edition of the revered DAW. You’ll have access to all of the recording and editing features, but with restrictions to eight audio and MIDI tracks, eight scenes, two return tracks, eight audio inputs and eight audio output channels.
You can still export your projects as WAV and MP3, so it could prove to be a great tool for creating and sending out demo tracks. Live Lite also comes with limited access to the full catalogue of effects and instruments.
If you’re planning on trying out Ableton’s coveted music production software, check out our Ableton Live Tutorials course on YouTube. We also have monthly tutorials in our Tutorials section on-site. To find out how the pros are using Ableton, check out our recent interviews with Baauer, Leopold Ross, Seeb and Never Dull.
